The Chairman, Board of Directors, First Bank of Nigeria (FBN), Ibukun Awosika, has urged the younger generation to embrace entrepreneurship and maintain focus.Speaking during a counselling session at an entrepreneurship program held today on the campus of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, the ever resilient investor and popular motivational speaker, charged students to overlook challenges and keep moving forward as they will discover new realities and make tough decisions on their entrepreneurship journey.

The program largely referred to as ‘Entrepreneurship Mindset 2019’ is one of many bold steps currently being taken across the country by schools, businesses and government, to reposition Nigerian youth for the looming non-oil economy. It is believed that, if well equipped with the right tools and knowledge, the over 75 million youth population is capable of stimulating and expanding news streams of future revenue, through creative disruption and wider enterprise.

Addressing students during the session, Awosika admonished, ‘Your journey can be dynamic, but you should focus on your end goal, because you will discover things as you move ‘.

“The game of life is more important than your certificate. The certificate only helps to get you through the door”, she added.

While encouraging the students to maintain focus, the First Bank chairman also highlighted the importance of asking oneself hard questions such such as ‘where do I want to be at 70?’.

Her talks certainly provide inspiration that would help participants make hard choices about life, career, education and entrepreneurship. Since unemployment is already rife in the country, and getting a good certificate offers no certainty of attaining success, building an enterprise-driven life is key to happiness and fulfilment.
