Osun Varsity cheered for zero tolerance approach to corruption

The Honourable Commissioner for Education in the state of Osun, Honourable Samuel Bamisayemi Oladoyin has commended the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Labode Popoola for his zero-tolerance approach to corruption.The Commissioner made this statement when he paid a courtesy visit to the University on Thursday 28 May, 2020.

The vice-Chancellor, professor Labode Popoola and the management team received the Honourable commissioner’s team that comprised the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Honourable Jamiu Babatunde Olawumi; the permanent secretary in the ministry of Education, Mr Sunday Festus Olajide and other Directors in the ministry.

Professor Labode Popoola made a presentation on the state of the University, the achievements, supports from the University Council, government, staff and students and how the University has been sustaining its numerous developmental activities through prudent management of its meagre resources.

Honourable Oladoyin while reacting to the Vice-Chancellor’s presentation described their visit to the University as a unique one that was meant to encourage the Vice-Chancellor and his team to continue the good work.
He said, “We specially thank the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Labode Popoola for not putting us to shame.”

“As you may be aware, I led the team that investigated the previous administration of this University and sent a report/recommendation that led to their dissolution. I am happy that you are doing an excellent job in this University,” he added.

The commissioner highlighted how the university is gradually becoming a model in Nigeria. He explained that development in the higher institution gave him joy and satisfaction. Further, he admonished the school’s management to strengthen the performance by even doing more.

Meanwhile, Honourable Oladoyin also applauded the Governing Council of the University led by Mallam Yusuf Ali, SAN, for devoting their resources, time, and contacts to developing UNIOSUN to its current enviable status.

He promised to contribute his own quota to the University too by supporting the best student in the College of Law of the University with a sum of Fifty Thousand Naira every year.
