VR 1820 Awarded Best Quality Brandy Brand in Nigeria

Date:

Vecchia Romagna (VR) 1820, a leading Italian brandy distributed in Nigeria by Fidossi Wines and Spirits, underlined its quality and widening consumer appeal at the National Quality Order of Merit Awards held on April 2025 in Lagos. The brand was awarded the Best Quality Brandy of the Year at the event.

Organised as part of the annual Nigeria Quality Summit which gathers professionals in manufacturing, consulting, marketing and brand management to discuss issues surrounding quality management standards in key sectors, the National Quality Order of Merit Awards promote quality standards focus in the country. VR 1820’s recognition at the event further positions the brand among top-quality products in its segment.

Ovie Shaka, the Vice Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Summit, said, “For organisations, a quality approach is vital to driving business growth. The National Quality Order of Merit Awards 2025 celebrates businesses and brands demonstrating leadership in innovations and creativity in quality management.”

“The Award is aimed at identifying, recognizing and rewarding companies, personalities and products that apply quality assurance culture and quality management best practices to the analysis, planning and implementation and control of policies designed to achieve corporate and product objectives in Nigeria”, he added.

Speaking about the award recognition, Fidelis Egbochie, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Fidossi Wines & Spirits, explained, “VR 1820 recognition as the Best Quality Brandy at this year’s Nigeria Quality Summit demonstrates the strength of our company’s strategy and commitment to sourcing the best wine and spirit brands via the sister’s Company FIDOSSI INTERNATIONAL LTD from the best vines in the world for distribution locally. The achievement serves as a motivation to do more for the market.”

He expatiated on the brand quality standards approach, “For the past 200 years Vecchia Romagna Italian finest has been crafting top quality. The brand is made from Trebbiano grapes, known to be ideal for brandy production. The wine is double distilled using the Charentais method, which involves using copper stills, a technique also used in the production of Cognac. This method ensures that the brandy retains the full-bodied essence of the grapes. It is aged in oak barrels to impart an amber colour and complex aromas, including fruity, spicy, and woody notes. The brandy is blended to achieve a smooth and balanced flavour profile.”

Egbochie further mentioned that the brand comes in varieties: Vecchia Romagna Classica (Gold Label), Vecchia Romagna Etichetta Nera (Black Label), Vecchia Romagna Riserva Tre Botti, and Vecchia Romagna Riserva 18. They are available for ordering online, purchase in stores, and at social engagement points.
