In supporting the government to eradicate the unemployment rate among the youth in the state of Osun and Nigeria at large, The Management of Osun StateUniversity has collaborated with the Federal Government of Nigeria Youth Empowerment & Social Support Operation (YESSO) and National Directorate of Employment Skills for Job (NDE-S4J) by hosting six hundred and twelve (612) youths in the State of Osun to a 90-days empowerment programme to train youths on Life skills, Sector-specific Skills and entrepreneurship lessons.

The programme which was declared open by the Governor of the State of Osun, Mr. GboyegaOyetola represented by Prof. Yinusa, on the 25th of September 2019 has given the participants an opportunity to learn in a serene environment without thinking of what to eat, where to live, facilities to use in learning and the lecturers that will teach as all these have been taking care of by Osun State University and NDE (S4J).

It will be recalled that the Federal Government of Nigeria through the assistance of the World Bank introduced the Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) to provide income security through income support, and access to employment opportunities for the poor and vulnerable youth and women.

The third cycle of the Skills for Job training is scheduled to be delivered at three levels; Life Skills, Sector-Specific, and Entrepreneurship skills training. Through Life Skills training beneficiaries are assisted with skills to identify their goals in life and also sensitize them on communication skills, interview skills, opportunities on social media platforms while the Sector-Specific Skills training enabled the participants to understand skills available within the growth sectors that are highly demanded. The Entrepreneurship skills training exposed them to cutting-edge knowledge for running a business successfully in Nigeria.
