Market consumption dynamics in the Nigerian food segment indicate a growing preference for pasta. The increased preference has been credited to the positive shift in dietary patterns among the local consumers.

As credence to the shift, home delivery firm Glovo Nigeria reported that the consumption of the food type increased by 320 per cent in 2022.

As well in 2023 Glovo delivered one pasta dish every four minutes, a 173 per cent surge in customer pasta orders. The surge unveils the nation’s deep love for the dish.


The data positions Nigeria as the third-fastest-growing country in the world for pasta consumption, only behind Kyrgyzstan and Tunisia.


More, according to Statista, “The volume in the ‘Pasta’ segment of the food market in Nigeria was forecast to increase between 2024 and 2028 by a total of 0.2 billion kilograms (+13.99 per cent)”
