Covenant University set to host tech conference, pitch-for-cash competition

Covenant University is set to prepare Nigeria’s young and potential entrepreneurs for the change that is currently taking place in the global workspace. This March the institution will be hosting a 2-day tech conference to drive knowledge transfer that will help participants find new areas of relevance in the 21st century economy.

Themed “The 4th Industrial Revolution: Future for Businesses, the Work Place and Communities”, the conference will feature high-profile keynote speakers from  Google, Andela, BBC, Gridcode, Semicolon, Piggyvest, VR360, Rise Networks, Digitalpassion, Joshfortech, Netmodel Technologies and Covenant University.

According to a press statement from the school, “It’s not going to be all talk as subject-matter experts will handle practical training workshops in smaller groups every day to empower participants with skills on topics like Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Drone-tech, 3D printing, BIM 360, Web Authoring and more. You will have an opportunity to learn a valuable skill that can help you stay relevant in years to come, start your journey in a tech career or earn an income for life”.

The statement further added, that “There is an opportunity for students teams from higher institutions to win a handsome cash award and a business training package by pitching an idea or hacking a solution to a need area in any sector of the Nigerian economy using any or a mix of the following Industry 4.0 technologies – Ai, VR, AR, IoT, Data Science, Big Data, and Blockchain. Over 1000 participants are expected at the conference. These participants range from undergraduates, graduates and startups. Date is March 27th & 28th.
