The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment held a 3-day summit in Georgia, United States, over the weekend with the aim of luring more American investors into Nigeria. As highlight of the event, the ministry assured investors that political wrangling and corruption are currently being dealt with to ensure a more conducive environment for economic growth and investment.

Citing the recent ranking of the country as one of the leading countries on the list of economies that have shown tremendous improvement in the ease-of-doing-business, and the roll out of the Economic Recovery & Growth Plan (ERGP) by the Buhari-led administration, the ministry assures prospective investors of the best conditions for investment.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Adebayo Adeniyi, represented by the Director of Infrastructure and Policy Matter. Olajide Bamidele, said the Nigerian government is aware of several challenges still associated with the investment landscape in Africa’s largest market. He however pointed to the improved World Bank ranking of the country based on the index used for determining ease-of-doing-business, and the concerted efforts put in place to reform sectors and financing chains, as indicators of the presidency’s willingness to make life easier for foreign and local investors.

Also, speaking at the event, Consul General of Nigeria in Atlanta, Mrs. Aishatu Musa, explained,

“Nigeria is strategically positioned in the development equation of the West African sub-region and indeed the entire African continent.”

She added, “With all the indicators pointing to a desirable future, and abundant human and material resources, investing in Nigeria will not only be the right thing to do but the wise thing to do,’’ she said.

The 3-day summit was attended by American entrepreneurs, business leaders and key government representatives from Nigeria.
